Emily

Mid State Conference meet this year cc was in Emily, MN. Can't recall ever being there before. Emily is located about 17 miles north of Crosby which is the stomping grounds for Cuyuna, the popular mtb flow trail. Crosby-Ironton was the host and Emily was the golf course for the action. 

  Another gorgeous fall day for a cc meet. Bit warm for the runners. JR high race was a fast one and Jack had his best race of the year.

 Post race eats at Diner's. Classic small cafe food. Great hospitality and service. Got the run down from the waitress the school district lines which seems confusing with CI, Brainerd, Walker, Pequot Lakes, Northern Lakes to name a few all in mix where kids can go to school to in the lakes area.

 Snuck a quick ride in at Cuyuna before the meet. Conditions were pretty much perfect. Hard and fast riding with two mud puddles on the 17 miles I covered.

 Took back roads back home, traveling on roads not been on before. A stop in Pine River on way home to check out the river. Local fishing all day. Two fish caught "All I can do is try" he said, while nursing a cigarette that probably was a permanent fixture.

 Not many towns have a built in amphitheater on the water shores.

 The cc season ended this week for Jack with the always perfect conditions Park Rapids meet. Grandma Judy said the rain was thick. Indeed, with temps in the upper 30's it looked like it was going to snow at any moment but unfortunately did not.

The last week of practice, one of the workouts was a scavenger hunt. Basically a trash collection. Nothing could be stolen. Fun year with a great group of kids.
