Mexico Spring 2018

Jonell and I were fortunate to take a quick trip to Mexico this spring, heading to the Puerto Vallarta area. The same area we have been going to for 25 years now. We have thought about going to other places but the people, the places and familiarity bring us back.

Beach side Old Town.

Check. Ready for the day.

Street tacos on the Malecon.

Enjoying the tacos.
Grilling fresh meat. I rather eat what I can see.
Navy band performing on the Malecon. The Malecon is a walk area along the beach in the heart of the original Puerto Vallarta that has only improved each year. Always fun to take in the sights, sounds and smells of local food vendors.

Full moon over the cathedral, just off the Malecon.

I brought my road bike along. Every day when I headed out the worker helping keep the road clear where construction was going on would cheer me on. Great way to head out.

Rolling along up to the mountains.

There is a great category 1 climb, recently paved. Not much traffic, makes for very nice riding.
Had to stop and get a selfie with the guy. His english was about as good as my Mexican but we shared some laughs. Everyone we visited with, from hotel folks, taxi drivers, street vendors, people take pride. America seems more divided than ever and true pride isn't like what it used to be.

Love the roadside fruit, coconut stands etc. This boy ready to chop!

Post dinner golden hour walk.
Local bmx crew getting ready for a urban assault.
Even though Trump has been Trump, you pretty much isolate 50% of Americans, maybe more by having this shirt outside your bar. There was on one there when we walked by compared to the bars/clubs next to that had patrons.
Great evening scene in old town PV.
Jonell having fun with the street side vendors.
Up for a hike in the nearby hills.

Checking out a puppy on evening walk.

Fantastic trip. Always goes by too fast but grateful to have the time with Jonell.  Every time go, we appreciate it more and more, the time alone, the great food, weather and fun experiences.
