Well, here we are waiting in the airport. Amazingly we were one of the few to not have our bags completely checked out and was nice since the bike box isn't easy to close. Guess it payed to be one of the last to check in. We loaded up on as much vanilla as we could and are ready for the flight. Jonell went to the beach early this morning so I did one last ride taking the same route as the first day. It was probably the best out of all days as I didn't stop to take pictures and put the screws down.

We had a great last day yesterday. Jonell and I opted for a bit more quiet so we went north to the surf and fish town of Sayulita. A handful of the old school Cali surfers have moved here to relive the old feel days. I bailed on the surfing and boogey boarding and just read and watched the longboarders work their board and the sets. There was one guy that had his kid in front and another had his dog. Some of the guys are really good and they are fun to watch. There was this photo shoot for a catalog out of Quebec Canada. Jonell was curious where they were from so I asked them. They were speaking French. When I asked why they were here, the person said" because there is snow in Canada" Jonell laughed. I said it wasn't a bad thing. We ate at La Dolce Vita again. Same place as the first night and I ordered the exact same thing. Spinach pizza and pasta arribiatta. Crazy that the best Italian food that I have eaten is in Mexico.

In the morning I went for a ride up into the mountains after getting set up with a new tire and tube. The two together were good price. Almost free. But the combined weight is about 3 times of what I was running. For sure, no flats. I forgot how long that climb was as I rode up about 1.25hrs and still had tons of climbing to do I was taking it easy and some spots are steep enough you have to drop to the granny just to keep spinning nicely and hr down. When I got to the point I thought I would turn around, I saw some singletrack so I hiked up it a bit and then decided it was a bit out of my comfort zone so I got ready for the bomber descent and turned around. When I pulled back out on the forest road, I just about t-boned a buck20 mexicano who was guiding a couple of americanos. He said "you like". What, mountain biking? "No, single track." he says. I say si. "Ride on" he says. He says " I show you good singletrack tomorrow". I said, Going home. "Ride on" he says. But he showed me in the road scratching in the dirt to the place he guides out of which I don't remember. I asked him his name (Alonzo). He asked me if I rode for "them", pointing to my jersey and what not and I say si. And he says "Ride on". I said maybe in the spring I look him up if we come back down. Guess what he said....."Ride on" He reminded me of Hollywood.

All in alli was a great trip. The best part is spending time with Jonell and just slowing down from the hectic pace. The locals here are really nice people and we have gotten to know some of them pretty good. People always ask "is it safe" and I feel it is very safe. In fact I feel more safe here then some spots in Minneapolis. I like shooting the breeze with the cab drivers and getting word on local jibs. You also learn how the traffic works watching those guys which is important for riding.

Wel, we look forward to getting back home and seeing the kids and tonight I will probably be grooming in a bit. From sea to ski.

Cheers!!
