As far as spring days go, pretty tough to top today. After a morning low of 18 degrees or so, everything froze super hard last night. So after I took the kids to the bus, I went out for a lap on the sport/comp/expert loop. The southern exposed sections were clear of snow and were great riding. The sun hadn't hit the slopes yet so it was fast and fun. The slopes that faced to the east southeast were starting to get a little greasy so I had to make sure I was "treading lightly". The north facing stuff still had snow and was tougher riding fore sure but still fun. I did maybe 3/4ths of a lap as the stuff I misssed still had snow and I wanted to get on the skis before it got too soft. The ski trails were a blast when riding as it was firm and fast. It was still pretty firm when I went out skiing so I was able to ski about 20km. Man, with the sun shining and what not it was really nice. Drag/grade the road, 4 hours in the office catching up on correspondence then Jonell came home from town. We picked the boys up from piano, went to Richwood for burgers at Burger Barn then rest of the evening spent goofing around on the basketball court, bikes, football, stream crossing etc. The best was when Jake went for a ball and he slipped on the mud and flipped up and fell smack dab in the stream. It was a riot. You would think Jens, the youngest , would get all muddy and wet but nope, Jake the oldest.
Off to Fargo to pick up my parents at the airport. I don't think I will be able to go backroads with the flooding so I will go long way around via interstate. Tomorrow night is first night at Rollag. The group ride that is mainly fast guys from Fargo/Moorhead area that sprint towards signs...then stop and regroup. A 16 mile out and back. A nice ride to do at 6:30 as it is on the old shore of Lake Aggaziz and has some nice up and downs. Hope to go. Should be fun like always.
