Yesterday I finished blowing out the singletrack sections for the UCI race and did about half of the ski trails as well. Took about five hours, walking around with the blower on my back through the woods. (the blower btw has been a great investment. Cuts incredible amouts of time. I got the biggest one (two stroke) that has lots of power use it for all kinds of stuff. I used to laugh when I saw city folks blowing out the dust in their garage but I was wrong) Anyways, late afternoon I did a lap at race pace and after 30 min I was blown, lap took me 40 min. I didn't get enough food in or something and all that walking did me in. Anyways, Kyia asked about riding on the course this week and since things had dried up enough I said sure. We did 49 min of intervals, 2 min on, 2 min off. It was fun riding, I had a blast. Felt ten times better today. Kyia rode in the afternoon, doing 3 more hours on the course! Crazy woman. The course is in good shape with the ski trails still a bit soft in spots but we rode to the sides. Chance of rain this weekend which wouldn't be a bad thing because it is really dry on the surface and a warm rain should finish off the frost which was reported 10 feet down in areas around us and take the ice of the lake which should come off next week regardless. Bottom photo is of Peter with the "weed whacker" but he has a nice blade on it for clearing out the underbrush and regrowth that we are thinning out so the planted and seeded pines can grow better. Peter does all the masonry work at Maplealg. You can see the chimney for the warming house in the background. In between the masonry work, he does raking and weed whacking. He works 3-4 hours a day. Last year, one stretch during the early summer, he went 3 weeks, eating weeds every single day. I don't know how he does it but he loves doing it. During the winter months he spends his time on the beach in Florida telling people about Jesus.
