Rode lap today at race pace after more flagging and root chopping most of the day. Checked in at 32 min. 1:30 faster than the last time with a short add on for the first feed/tech zone before the lakeside drops added. The conditions reminded me of 2003 and the year I chased Doug for about 15 min during the xc. I have never gone as fast as I did that day on the singletrack. If I rode that fast today I am sure my lap would of been more in the 28 range. The only thing different then was more foilage in the woods. Doug was taking nice clean lines and floating over the roots and rocks like nobodys buisness. The Pro field for the Spring Opener is solid. I expected a few more Pros at this point but I am sure there are some factors why not which I won't go into. If it dries out to the condition it is like now after the rain coming this weekend (which we need), Doug will be tough to beat but Jeff Hall rides well on this course as well. Those two have had some great battles here with one of them taking the win for the Loppet going back at least 6 years, I think. The Midwest women will make for a exciting race with a few westerners to make it interesting. The Semi-Pro field will be strong as well and should be a great race.

Jay, Hi my name is John Oman. I raced with Jake in the Citizen class last year in the MNSCS races. I also spoke with you briefly at your car before the Short & Fat race last year.
With the team competition forming for this year's MNSCS, I am trying to pull together a group of last year's Citizen racers to make a team for the Sport class. So far I have Kevin Supple and myself. I have also left messages with two others, Tim Williams and Marc Harveiux. Jake knows who they are. We need a minimum of 3 but would like even more since there is no maximum number of riders. So my question is...Does Jake have a team and if not, would he be interested in joining us? The deadline for team registration for the Erik's Cup is tomorrow (May 7, sorry for such short notice). Could you drop me a quick email either way, yes or no. j_oman@yahoo.com Our team name will be "Wannabe Racing" unless we think of something better.
Thanks and good luck with the UCI race next week. I wish I could make it up there for it but my wife and I just had twin boys so I'm not allowed to go too far yet. :)
Thanks. John Oman
Wish I could be there racing on Sat...will have to wait until Sunday.
