Grandma Judy came over last night to help with the big wedding today. She gave Jon another perm job and also to cousin Reagan. Some serious hockey hair now. I don't think Jon has cut his hair since October.
I think I jinxed today. Met with some couples to be earlier this week and last weekend about weddings and talked to much about how many outside weddings we have pulled off with no moves inside. It rained alllllllllll daaaaaaaaaaayy today. So, that meant all the work yesterday to set up for outside wedding was out. So we broke down the dance room and converted it to a ceremony area.
After the ceremony we set it back up for the dance.
We jammed on the set up so I had 40 min open window. Went riding. It was very very wet, not too muddy.....but fun. I think I was running 15psi so I wasn't sliding really on the roots. Thought for sure I was going to pinch flat. I rode a lap and a bit more and cleaned everything just fine. The singletrack was actually very firm. The ski trails were soggy\wet. Since i was the only one, it didn't get all cheezed out. If there were 100 riders that would be something else.
Five different types of cakes. I set out the plates, and Jonell served the cake. She wanted me to sample each one so I ate a lot of cake. The chocolate was the best. Didn't care for the pistachio one too much.
No racing for me tomorrow. Just too much going on these days to sneak away. I was really hoping to make it since I missed last year. I will be real bummed if it ends up being muddy. Jake is down in Rochester hanging with one of his bike homies. He just called and said they road 25 miles today, goofing around in Roch I guess. Thats more miles than I have done the past three days. It kills me to read on the MNSCS message board that guys are thinking of not racing tomorrow because it might be raining etc. You buy a car to drive it, you buy a bike to ride it and you buy skis to go skiing. Regarding the trail damage, knowing those guys that take care of the trails at Steeplechase, it would be pretty hard to destroy a trail from one race. Sure, you might have some issues but those guys will do the right thing and if it does get chewed up a bit, they will fix it up. We have had a lot of mud races here and maybe it looked nasty afterwards but in the long run, it actually helped buff things out. Good luck to anyone reading this and is racing. Have fun!!

I agree Jay, ride it when you can, there's nothing like kids playing in the weather (young & young at heart). Rain or snow it's what makes a person alive to really feel nature up close. Just go outside & do it. Your boys are lucky. Remember some of the mud races from years past, the trails will survive.
