Merry Christmas. Celebrated Christmas with my sister since that week is the busiest of the year for us and every time she has come over Christmas/New Years its always crazy. We were going to go to the lake at south Twin/Pinehurst but it didn't work out. Anyways, some good times swimming, biking and a great game at the Redhawks on Saturday night. Get there and they are behind 6-0. Redhawks get their pitching mechanical issues figured out and go on to win 9-6. Just a solid night of entertainment.

I'm related to these yardbirds? Actually as the kids get older things start to mellow out. No one in diapers so that is key. They are the best, really.

Jake was riding on the course over the weekend and hit the rock garden on the Bente Bump section and blew apart his rd. Luckily I had one from a few years ago that was in working order so we put that on and good to go. Jake at camp this week so no riding until O2S. I will be tweaking the rock garden section as it just is tough to sweep that out cleanly.
Brother in law Dan checking out a 57 Chevy near Lake Park he has is eye on. He ran a magnet to make sure it was all metal.
Jon off the dock.

I don't know how many rocks, logs etc. Jake has hit with the jumper bike and that thing has stood the test of time. XTR derailer, different story.

After thinking it wouldn't work to do Ore to Shore, it turns out we are going. Although there was no riding in the White Earth State Forest this past weekend, Jonell and I got some solid rides in and things are looking good. We are heading to the cabin late afternoon to get a longer This will be a pretty long ride for us and Jonell is a bit nervous but its all for fun. We will be picking up Jake at bible camp near Menagha after dropping Jon off at a friends house for a birthday party and Jack and Joe will stay with my mom and Jens comes with us. Going to Welch to race since we are picking up Jake's homey Shea from Rochester so he can spend the week here. I got my money on Simonson again. Matter should be up there, Doug, Mike Phillips is going strong. I bet Jesrin could snag a top five.

I was named to the Becker County OHV Policy Committee to represent the side of silent sport enthusiasts in Becker County. The first meeting is Thursday. Should be interesting. The plan for the county is to try and develop a forest access plan for atvs. I am against any development of a trail for atv. My feeling is that we try to bring more atvs to the area, there will be just more riding where there shouldn't be. And the idea to have the trail is to try and keep them on this trail and not elsewhere. I think they should pave a trail from Park Rapids to DL for cyclists.. Or do a new paved trail. Towns like Park Rapids, Walker, and the towns that have reclaimed railroad beds are doing very well. Plus, you have the whole environmental issue and trail maintenance which is always more then what people think. I am sure things will get heated. They have already sent a few letters asking everyone to be respectful.

Hey Jay-
Are you trying to get a point ot point race represented in MN? That is exactly what we could use.

Keep ATV's out of National Forests.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the feedback. I know you represent a lot of voices so when I take the floor, I can multiply your comment.

Yes, a mtb point to point race should happen next year. I wanted to do a low key ride again this year but the UCI event took a lot of energy, promotional wise, out of me. I am trying to figure out the exact route and riding up there the past few days I have some new ideas. I know i can get some local organizations to back me on it and I think if we get get a big group of bikers, eventually, folks can see how great people cyclists are and how it can be an economic avenue for the area instead of trying to promote atv use in the county or "unit" as the DNR refers to. I would hope the county would make "green" moves and set a trend or standard instead of status quo guidelines set forth by the DNR.

I'll like to touch base with you at O2S, I see you are racing, or Welch if you are doing that.
