Date night saw us in Vergas last night. Billy's Corner bar. Good burgers, really good burgers actually. Reminded me of the burgers at the corner bar in Nymore in Bemidji. Fresh ground. Real deal. Highly recommend it. Plus, you can check out the big loon. Bonus last night with the full moon coming around.

Full moon, clear nights and light winds the end of October means frost.

Scraping the shield this morning gets me even more excited. I am really restless this year. Doesn't look like snow this month which is probably a good sign as it means better chances in November.
NOAA keeping to their guns on the winter outlook. Looking at this map, it implies we are in a drought in our neck of the woods and should see some relief. I don't agree our area is in drought, but I like the thinking that it means we will see relief in the form of snow. All this talk and forecasts really mean nothing, if you boil it down. The only thing certain (as Bruce always tells me) is that snow is king.

On the subject of snow, I touched base with Doug in West Yellowstone yesterday for some ginzu talk and he said last weekend they had 4" of snow with some rain. There is still a 2-3" base on the trails even though it is warming up at nights. If it is getting in the upper 20's here I bet it is in the teens there if clear. He said folks have been skiing up on the plateau for two weeks now. He would groom up there but if he did, then folks would expect fresh cord every day so instead is plugging away on some projects and will get serious in November. Still trying to figure out a time to go out. We'll see. If we have snow here, no.
