The plan was to go back out to Island this morning but it was rain rain rain. We could of walked out to the landing to take the canoe to the Island but it would of been about a 2 mile walk so decided just to walk around some ponds here with Jens and Jack. Probably was better as they could shoot at some stuff and they play around on the edge of the sloughs. We were out for over a hour and got wet but not too bad. Didn't get cold so thats all that matters.

I thought for sure one of them was going to go in. It would of been stinky.

Jack made it okay but Jens slipped near the end and was up to his waist. After a little tear action, he sucked it up and went back out and cleaned it.
The NMBS schedule is out for next year. Thinking maybe 3-4 races including Nationals at VT. Hopefully some more MN folks can make it next year. I talked to Jeff Frost a bit about the schedule (mainly because the Idaho race conflicts with Laddies Loppet next year) and UCI situation. It was interesting. Also had some good e-mail exchange with the promoter from the UCI race at Greenbriar and on the other side of the coin, Kelli from USA Cycling. The MNSCS schedule should be set as well pretty soon. Pretty much all the same races. Steeple is out because the hill is up for sale, bummer, never made that venue, and a new race in WI that will act as WORS as well. I feel this is a good core of riders in the MNSCS right now, all classes. Should continue to be on the upswing. Few people from other states asking as well so I only see movement in a positive direction.
Definitely the highlight of racing this past summer, Nats at VT. The Bensons rolled in tonight. One of the daughters getting married. Not sure on riding. Bummer since the track was in great shape. Knowing the Bensons, they will be riding tomorrow afternoon I bet, regardless. The bmx track is out of the question. Either way, should be a fun weekend with lots of Canadians coming from all over like Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon.. Its fun just talking to them. Super super nice people. I can always tell when a Canadian calls on the phone. Yeah, they have the eh and for sure but its something else. Such easy going talk with no drama or something. Can't put my finger on it. Anyways,

Hopefully the sun comes out Saturday.Bill said one of the forecasters up there this morning said so far in October, the sun has been out for a whopping four hours in West Hawk Lake. Hard not to think about where it is sunny right now.....Jon started hockey this week. A bit of a wakeup call after not having it to five days a week. It always starts out crazy as the high school isn't practicing yet so they get a bunch of ice time. When Jon isn't skating, he is riding the cx bike. Good cross training. I can't remember which Wild player it is but we read that one of them bikes quite a bit in the summer for training and once I told Jon that...........he wants a new cross bike which would make good sense cuz he could ride it year round. Good warm up for the games in the winter, right.

Yes. I am still trying to figure out a course. There are 3-4 different options. The latest is DL to Maplelag. Also, I'm working on a Jr team for next year and might just focus on that for a few years while Jake is still racing. At least next year I want to do the point to point as a ride/get together at Pinehurst for a weekend of riding and hanging out. Will keep you posted.
