Jake said he is going to beat me this year so I figured I better start riding. Been riding on the trails in the morning while they are still hard and fast. Huge air. Fun stuff. Jake got his upgrade to Expert since that is the progression from Sport in USA Cycling. Not sure what that means racing in MN since the progression from Sport is to Comp. The priority for him will be to qualify for US Nationals at MT Snow so we will probably hit a couple Nationals and maybe race some National Calendar races and might not race in MN so much. We'll see. I already registered for US Nats, the first day it opened, so I can get the best call up possible if I don't do any Nationals beforehand...plus have to make it look like I am guarding Jeff Hall's bike. Regarding classes, personally I would like to see the MNSCS do away with Comp class and just have that be Expert than Elite which would be the Pro and Semi Pros, like WORS is doing this year. I like to think it would encourage more Expert riders to bump up to semi-pro. The Comp riders now still would do the same distance. We had a conf call this afternoon with race directors and talked about it among other things but plan on keeping it as is. Just not enough Pro and Semi Pro racers that would race enough races to justify the class. More info will be posted on the MNSCS site. Most of the race directors and Sjoqquist and Robertson are working hard to make things better so nice job to those folks. Some last minute changes that will hopefully bring more riders to the series.

Its been a great week of springlike skiing.

Skied with the legendary Norm Oakvik today.

What a riot. Tons of history with that guy. He had three pair of skis all waxed with different types of klister. No wax skis as well just in case but he doesn't like to use them and a new pair of Atomics waxed with blue extra for those blue extra days. Five pair of skis in the car. Great guy. Broke three ribs a few weeks ago. Tough as nails. Jens out this morning.

Timing is everything grooming this spring stuff. Grooming tonight...started out with Skaters, did a bunch of classic trails then did another pass on skaters. Dark out.... top layer of corn snow set up an inch or two, pulling up in sheets, wet corn underneath. Always something different, always learning.

Didn't Phil Rogers ski it? That would be fun, I think. If I biked I would have to rie against CPFarrow. That guy is an animal...eats nails for breakfast.

Yes he did. He made it half way. Charlie is an animal or an alien. Not human at all :)
