Taking the kids out this morning at -25. Hard to believe it is 7th of March and really the last big weekend of the winter. Should be a fantastic weekend of skiing topping off a great snow season with an fun and interesting time on the trails.
Lots of porcupines feasting on the trees. People like looking at them but unfortunately the kill a lot of trees. Fly tried to help us out yesterday but he came away losing (thankfully we pulled the quills out ourselves)
The bullhead of course. Was pretty fishy. First time falling through the ice in a while. Thankfully not deeper than the hips and was dressed such didn't get wet.
A ram. Wait, that was at Memorial arena in Roseau.
Lots of little bunny rabbits enjoying spilled hot chocolate and what not.
Pileated woodpeckers always fun to watch. Amazing drilling the trees. Wonder if their necks get stiff.
Haven't seen fox, coyoyte, bobcat and other hungry four legged predators.
Don't know if all the deer can say the same.
But probably the craziest thing was this owl near Twin Lakes that got stuck in a trap and appears to have gone to a top of a tree, tried to fly away and that was it. A sad deal and almost horrific looking. Talked to DNR person and not much can do. Has been hanging for about four weeks now. 50ft up in the air.
