Saw one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my life. As a lover of snow, ice etc...... I thought this was the greatest, a guy making snow cones just off the beach in 80 degree weather.

Big chunk of ice, and had this custom shaver where the blade could be adjusted and was getting some impressive ice action. He let me try it but I wasn't even close to his smooth stroke. Again, the mode of transport top notch. I need to get one of these for the resort for housekeeping. Would be great for hauling laundry and what not.

Close up of the shaver.
Even the locals were mesmerized. He had all types of toppings, not just the sugar flavorings like lime and cherry but pureed mango, coco, vanilla, cream. All kinds of options. I watched this Mexican family order six of them and they knew how to have it done right with all kinds of combinations.
Our ride up into the Madre was great. We were only out for a couple of hours as early as we could so we could enjoy the rest of the day. Most our rides were in the 1.5 to 2 hour range with the Monkey mountain ride the longest at 3 hours. Short and sweet. The first time I rode up into the mountains east of PV was maybe 10 years ago. I rented a mtb bike from a guide place and asked where to go as I wasn't interested in being "guided". Back then there weren't bridges like there are now over the rio cuale so it took maybe 30-40 minutes to get to the base of the climb. Now, from the hotel we stay at, you pretty much head straight east and within 7 minutes you are out of the "city" and 15 minutes you are climbing. To me its pretty amazing considering PV is now up to 500,000 people. Anyways...
There were some fires here and there that cut into the visibility but once we got up higher it was very nice.

After climbing for almost a hour we bombed down and then went on the other side to do this climb I found last November. It was only about 9 minutes long from the switchback we turned off of but was a sweet one. After going up once, I had to do it three more times. Two steep sections it was granny just because of the loose dirt/dust. At the top where we stopped was a gate and a family lived up there. It was unreal. Sometimes a car/truck would go up there and it has to be just crazy. I don't know how they do it. You can see the electrical hanging and black for water which is all they need.
Into the jungle a little farther found some new roads and some singletrack at the end I hadn't been on before. We were running short on time so didn't explore much farther.
It was pretty technical and Jake said free ride material. I have a feeling it went pretty far back. There are so many roads and trails that go on forever. Adrian's dad was there with a group over Easter and they road 12 days doing this crazy huge loop. He said they go in November as well for a week and just ride a big loop up and down the mountains.
Rented a small fishing boat for a couple of hours and went about 30 min south on the coast to Los Arcos for some snorkeling and what not.
Fun family vacation with lots of memories. This is really the only time of the year we can all be together it seems. No one got sick or hurt.....Jonell and I very thankful for that considering some of the stuff we ate and hopefully the immune systems are that much stronger.

Nice pics. Glad to see you enjoying a break after a long winter.
I'm making up the roster for the team competition. Is Jake still going to race for Hollywood in the comp class?

Yes, racing for Hollywood in Comp. We talked about getting a team with you two. Let me know if you need another rider. Long winter for sure....temp tanked today and is 34 with stiff wind...Yikes! It was -8 in Great Falls MT this morning so I am sure it will be below freezing tomorrow morning when kids go to school.
