The warm weather popped the leaves out nicely this weekend. So much for the bad weather everyone was talking about. Besides a little wind action, pretty darn nice. Today was incredible. Not much time for riding with another busy wedding weekend but did manage some laps on the course. This morning was going to try and do three laps race pace but only managed two. Trying to crank things at 6am on four hours of sleep the past two nights before breakfast duties...tough to get the engine up to speed but beautiful in the woods.

Jake started working on the new singletrack we are cutting on the western trail system. Hoping to make a 4-5 mile continuous loop with options in the future to go even farther west. Some pretty decent terrain to work with for the most part. Won't be part of the race loop but maybe in a few years if we can cut a loop on the northern system, we can do a point to point with the ski trails. The racing has been slim pickings in MN this month. There has been talk of point to point racing in Aitkin area and southern MN area but nothing panning out. Itching to race. With Harmon seeming like a training ride, getting ancy. Hopefully Afton.

Starting out is always slow going. Hopefully we can get most of it done before the bugs get too bad but you get used to them.

The weekend went incredibly well. Jonell even sat down for a few rare minutes once everything was set. I was going to have her walk around with the Garmin to see how many miles she put in but too much metal in the lodge.

Having to clean up some fingernail polish was no big deal considering how nice the people were.

Saturday afternoon the groom comes up to me and says "what can I do to make your life easier?" I said dude, its the other way around Talk about some nice people. Grilled tonight for about 50 that stayed over. Fun visiting with them. The groom's brother was from Memphis and has the
only shop that does full service tuning Alpine boards and what not. He wanted to ride so set him up with the 9.8 and he rode a few laps when he could.

Probably the highlight for my mom who was pulling the late night/early morning cover was when the Banjo player came into the kitchen around 2am and started jamming. Some of his friends came in and they grabbed some big wooden spoons, wire whisks, etc..... was quite the scene I guess. Good times.

About 15 kids we know graduating this spring. Went over to Jordan's this afternoon. Never been to their house. Basically 3 miles down this small gravel road and they live on this un named lake. Beautiful afternoon. Jack put down four pieces of cake. Jordan will be hard to replace in the kitchen. Could not ask for anything more in an employee. Always on time, hard working, no complaints ever. Just got it done. When Jonell needed an wild cat disposed of properly that was raising issue during a wedding last fall, Jordan stepped up to the plate.

Jake went over to Ellefsons last night and met up with Steve for some riding in Paul Bunyan.
Sounds like they had a nice ride. It has been 4-5 years since I have ridden over there. Some pretty sweet singletrack. Last time Jonell dropped me off in Akelely rode 3 hours in PB then went to Shingobee for a hour. Maybe the next few weeks.
