Greetings from Windham NY. Dang, that was a haul. We took the northern route through Canada and was a bit longer than I expected. Total car time was around 34 hours. Yikes!! Not much stopping. Maybe 2-3, 15 minute stops per day. Really hammered the driving. Was good to see other families practice spontaneous ditch irrigation like the Richards family. Thankfully no issues other than a flat at Walker, MN. and ended up getting four new tires. Wow, its good to be here finally.

Night before we left we all went out to our favorite eats in the lakes area, Hotel Shoreham. Best pizza around. Great ride earlier in the day taking 2 1/2 minutes off my hot lap, heart rate max and averages highest of year so that got the confidence going. Missing the family already big time. Can't think of the last time Jonell and I have been apart more than 4-5 days. Driving the first part of Canada was lonely with Jake sleeping.
Metal piece outside of Walker putting us back a couple of hours early in the trip.
Stopped at Spirit Mountain and rode a lap, tuning the rock riding skills.
Rode the North Country trail climb which I hope is part of the course again this year. Fun technical climb. Very dry at Spirit. I did a rain dance in the parking lot before we left.
With a crop failure of strawberries around where we live, was nice to pick up a fresh bucket in Superior for the trip east. Whatever benefits these sweet juicy reds hold will be multiplied tenfold.
Hardly any traffic at all in the UP. Gas was 40 cents more a gallon around Ironwood etc. compared to DL. so I can see why. That west wind going out was huge.
Mid day yesterday somewhere in the middle of Ontario had to stop for a spin. No idea on any trails and we really lucked out finding a logged out forest area that had some side trails and just enough rock stuff to wake up the bike handling skills.
Crossing through Adrian Lorenzo style.

Rolled into Windham today after a hairy drive through Montreal earlier in the day. Parked next to Todd Wells. He had just finished a ride. Had a good conversation with him about Sayulita and what not.
Kyia and Kris at registration. Good to run into some Midwest folks after that crazy long drive. Jake looks like a tourist with his map and goodie bag.
Fun course. Rocky section at the top. About 23-25 minutes of climbing and a 6-7 minute crazy fast downhill with some technical sections. Really dry and dusty. If it rained it would be really crazy. Rode one lap and seemed short so that was good. I am sure the last lap will be tough but should be around 2 hours of racing for me and 1.5 for Jake. Four laps on order for me and 3 for Jake.
Spinning on the road afterwards we were checking out a hotel and ran in the Lalonde brothers and caught up with them. They were playing frisbee with their front rings, getting things dialed for the climbing, swapping the 36 for a 34 I think they said. So cool those guys are going for it singlespeed in the PRO race. Should be interesting.
