Lots of trees cut this week. Cut a bunch of trees on the singletrack on the LL course, mainly cleaning up some sight lines, cut some branches on a tree near our house. Climbed up the tree, saw in one hand and hanging on with one hand. Good thing Jonell wasn't around. This afternoon Jonell's brother needed some help cutting a tree up over one of the cabins so we cut up this tree. Actually Jonell's brother did it. It was amazing really. He had a lot more guts than I would of. No harm done other than a hose reel getting toast. Could of been lot worse, lot worse. No trip east to Ore to Shore for the first time in 6 years. My money is on TJ Woodruff. Will be heading down to Buck Hill on Sunday.

First time I raced at Buck Hill was way back in 1990. The O' and Moore bros were probably still sucking on presta valves back then. Like Buck being part of the MNSCS this year, Buck was part of the 1991 Midwest MTB Point series. Every time we drive through Hill City, I tell Jake its too bad there isn't a race at Quadna anymore. When I moved out west then came back after three years, then raced at Buck, I was amazed of the development and loss of trails. Through it all, I still think it is impressive Buck is still able to have some trails and racing. Nice the series could have the race versus canceling. Racing at Buck as recent at 2005 (besides the Thurs night series).
When I saw this sign below, I busted out laughing. ELDB means "Lake of the Woods" loosely translated. For some that have worked at Maplelag, will remember the blue truck. A fine mobile for hauling wood, brush, cardboard, rocks etc. Driving around the grounds my dad would always have the door open. Someone on Spanish camp staff, who remembers the blue truck, painted this sign. What a riot. Blue truck no longer at Maplelag. Sold to someone local and now a rez runner.
