Made it through the weekend with no bus drama. Most of the teams coming up had coaches with professional drivers and those guys know what they are doing. ST Paul Highland Park drove up in that snow event and the coaches were glad to get off the bus. He was passing cars at 65-70 in a snowy lane. Kids get off the bus and 30 minutes to race time. Awesome. Even though Jake's meet in Bemidji was still on, they didn't go up which was disappointing considering three teams came up from the cities to Maplelag, and Brainerd, Little Falls and Grand Rapids go to Bemidji for meet. Go figure. Jake jumped in the race here and was the second varsity skier among the four teams. Jon had his games. Lost to Moorhead but they played good defense. Lost tight game to Brainerd. Moorhead has 6 squirt teams, I think, and nice they just play us considering they are a AA school. Game tonight for Jon and can't remember seeing snow piles in town like there are now. Always looks like more snow in the towns since they don't have as much room to put it places. I prefer to pack our snow down and keep things white on the drivway and what not. Snow has been awesome. Still haven't had all the trails groomed at one time. Funny, this time some years you don't have trails open because of low snow and this year trails not open because of too much snow!?!? Looks like this stormy pattern will settle down after Christmas and a zonal flow which usually means frosty mornings and temps hovering at 30-32, day and night. Not likely I will log in until January again, doing daily updates to the Maplelag site and skinnyski every few days so have a great Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I told Jonell one year, the week of Christmas and New Years, I want to get dropped in to some log cabin up in BC Canada with her and listen to our Skeeter Werner records at night by a glowing fireplace, getting tips for burning the turns in the powder. Cheers!
