A rare weekend with nothing going on. No kids activities and nothing at the resort since camps start a week later this year. Other than going out to the woods, our cars did not move. Some good family time with no plans. Split some spruce I cut off the singletrack and nice Friday night bonfire.
The chilly weather and what not required a couple of these during the day.
Jonell cranking out some whole wheat bread that had some serious weight.
I finally gave in to Jake's wishes and dumped a pile of dirt so he could build a jump half way down the long downhill towards Twin Lakes ski trail. It just looks dicey. A gap between the edge of the jump and pile of sand/gravel we pushed up from a dugout we use for trail work etc. He tuned the jump and when it was set we all went over.
First time off he cleared and had a okay landing but the way the jump is positioned, requires a pretty big turn of the bike in mid air and hard to do so he nailed the side of the dug out. I didn't think he would hit it again but he did. Its nutz.
Said he won't hit it again until after Chequemegon. We'll see on that.
Think I like Jens method better.
Nephew Ripley coming over Saturday to hang out for a while, sitting close while I shot pics.
Jens on the new singletrack. No front brake, a good way to learn how to ride the singletrack. "Man that was scary....I want to do it again" Jens and I rode the entire new section this afternoon after Jake and I did some tempo on the road and super d training on Suicide and surrounding singletrack. The rain last night had the new singletrack a bit slippery in spots but Jens is either lucky or had incredible bike handling skills. It was fun for sure.
Hitting the first berm and showing his older brother how it is done.
Jake and I did a couple laps at race pace Saturday, enjoying the cool temps and no bugs. Since there is no local midweek race series, I usually do a hot lap on Wed nights and managed fastest time ever with current lap which includes end of last summer. Ready to race again. Seems like it has been a while.
Jib takes a go.
Reagan and Jon working on the beaver dam.
Jack gets a new lego and before we can ask if he has opened the package, he already has it put together.
