Monday night came down with a fever. Not fun when standing on a roof and trying to do other stuff. Chills, shivers, cover up, get hot, sweat, try to cool down again, shakes, repeat. Went in Tuesday to doc and looking at these large red spots on the leg he was thinking tick bite so antibiotics until blood test comes back. First test might of been to early to detect. Who knows, by Thursday feeling much better but thought best to stay home and miss the first game of Jon's tourney in Alex. Much better again on Friday so went down to Alex and watched three games and his team take the title. Team really started to come around in the tourney and fun to watch. This was the last tourney of the summer with the Moorhead team. Great experience and wonderful opportunity for Jon. Last game we played this team based out of Duluth/Range and some of the parents were brutal. Calling out to their kids for numbers to take out on our team. Total bush league like. Wish I had the video camera. All the AAA tourneys we have been to this summer, haven't seen that really. Whatever, comes with the territory. All good because it makes me laugh more than anything.
Three kids in the back are huge. Pushing 5' 9", size 11 and 13. A nice mix of speed, size etc. No one really stands out. A very solid even team.
Saturday felt best I have in weeks so Jake and I went out to the trail to work on some singletrack sections after unloading the shingles from the roof projects. Interesting trip to the landfill. Crazy how much we stuff we throw away as a society. We had a good load so it took a while and mabye 5-6 trucks came and went to the demo section in the time we spent unloading.
Berm work after the before shot above.
Was too inviting and rode a lap in the evening and felt really good. Jake said it was almost like a super d Sol Vista berm.
Built up a transition area from single to ski trail to single. Instead of getting sucked down the fall line, get set up for the single.
Took out a tree and made a cleaner line to the right. Still have option to go left or go down middle and jump off the stump.
Smoothing up skid steer built berm off of ski trail. Other than one other berm and some gravel spreading on the start, the course is 100% organic, no artificial ingredients. The little lumber that once was is no longer. We will probably shorten up the Sport/Comp/Expert loop and have 2,3 and 4 laps respectively. Slightly shorter race for sport, bit longer for comp and expert. Taking out the hard second to last section that rec'd most complaints. Lap times for tops should be right around, bit under 30. Three laps like last year for beginner on mostly ski trail and one for kids comp just like last year.
Saturday night we got a call from a coach of a team Jon played one tourney with last year. They were short so asked if Jon wanted to play in final game on Sunday in Breezy Point. Jon hesitated none so we went over in the morning. Like the drive over as we take all back roads and really don't drive through any towns larger than 250 until Pequot Lakes. Coming down a hill saw what looked like two Grandstay riders and at first I thought it was the Swanson bros picking bluberries in the ditch but was Lance B and Matt S working on a flat. They were heading to Pine Mountain forest road. Hope the rest of the ride went well for them. Sure was a nice morning for it.
You haven't been in many hockey rinks if you haven't had a taco in a bag.
Exciting Championship game even though they lost.
Meanwhile, Jack is having a blast with my mom and cousin Joe in da UP of Mich. Looks like Jack is sacrificing Joe or something so it will snow this winter.

Whoa, that trail is looking great. I am loving that burm. Going to be fuuuuuun in Sept.
Sweet burm action! I was thinking we needed some berms at the N. Loop after the Solvista Super D as well. Nice!
