Knocked off 40 years last week. Our insurance company has a suite at the UP Center in Fargo for the Force games and they set us up so we took them up. If you want to go to a hockey game to see a fight, your best chances are at a ushl tilt. Nice to have the whole fam together for a outing.
The balmy March and very warm past two days has most likely stirred the deer ticks. We dropped $600 for the pets to protect. Thats all fine but where is the protection for humans? It's amazing, really, the hospitality treatment indifference between an animal hospital and a human hospital. I thought I would be farther along on lymes recovery. It has been a slow process. Better than the Fall but not near 100% and any "training"over a hour has me paying for it in the evening. Normally I would be cranking out more hours this time of year with things slowing down at the resort but it hasn't been. Its all good though, things could be much worse, and I am excited for a great mtb season with the Maplelag/Paramount team which is almost 30 strong now. Just glad to have the ability to get out and spin now and then.
Last week nephews Grant and Garrett were up for a day on Spring break and we closed out the "plunge" season taking them for a dip for the first time. I don't think we will make a March ice out but we could be the first week of April which is early for sure but still not close to any records like in 1898 or 1947 and 1963 when we had March ice out dates.
Jon had his first Spring hockey practice in Bemidji with the northern team he plays with so I went out to Buena Vista to see if there was snow. Had the skis along just in cased and ended up skiing almost 1.5hrs (paid for it later) in beautiful conditions. Everyone is itching to ride and pound the miles but over in Scandinavian, the majority of folks on Easter vacation are up in the mountains enjoying the Spring snow. I honestly thought there would be another person or too but just a lot of traffic zipping by on the road below. BV had very good coverage and had a blast burning the turns with the jibskates on the bd run that had full coverage. Too me it isn't much difference hiking up and skiing down 10 times versus going up and down once on a big mtn out west, skis are moving all the time and can't ask for anything better. You could have a sweet mtb course at BV. Some tight and tech singletrack in between the runs and nice plateau type features on the back side. They do run a mtb race there in the fall but there is lot of potential there. After skiing we went down to Grandma's where Jonell met up with me and the other boys for a awesome turkey dinner. Nicely done Judy.
Jake and I rode on the Sugarbush trail last night. Last year there was 2' of snow on the sides and not possible at all to ride. Now it is as smooth and hard as it can be. The best forest road around with nice rollers and views to Big Sugarbush along the way.
The full moon in March ranks up with the light in November. Many deck fires the past few nights enjoying.
