Yep, March is pretty much awesome.....if the nice base of snow you have doesn't COMPLETELY melt out in 6 days. Yikes! Going on 10 days with temp above 32 degrees. Has to be some type of record. About the only snow left is piles left from the plow and snow cat jump making. The back bowl jump still has a path of white leading down to it so hopefully that can hang on until it cools down. Should.

You can always count on good hockey in March though. I haven't missed many state hockey tourneys since attending my first one back in 1980ish. The tourney has changed with two classes and seeding but still a great event. Went down Wednesday night this year, bringing Jon and his hockey team mate Mason to catch Warroad game and met up with Bruce Adelsman. Enjoyed watching the Brock Nelson kid. Thought he played best out of the top ranked players.
We stayed overnight for Thursday games and in between the sessions, Bruce gave us a quick tour of some local "Landmarks". We are going to miss Mason. Great kid and a heck of a hockey player. Moving to Bismarck.
Bruce catching up on log sawing. Guy put in some serious long hours covering the Nordic scene nicely again this year. First game of evening session than bolted home.
With the rapid melt, the creek next to our house was running full on. A magnet for the kids. Reminds me when I was a kid and would spend the whole day doing this, walking down to the south following the creek messing with beaver dams and what not.
As long as no one gets knocked in the head, all good.
Driveway turns in to a basket case with consecutive above freezing temps pulling the frost out. Couple hundred cars in and out and all part of the experience. No one stuck and driveway drama turns out all good. Out east some little inns and what not use the mud season as a marketing tool as not everyone gets to experience the transition of seasons and walking around in the rubbers feeling the ground move beneath your feet.

The hockey continued Friday night as our insurance agent called last minute and said he had two extra tickets for Sioux/Gopher game Friday night. We were covered at the lodge so Jonell and I went up to the Ralph at the Forks. Lots of snow in the fields still once you head west from Crookston and lots of snow in Grand Forks still. The best part of Friday nights game was being part of the atmosphere. No use talking about the series and the cheap hit by Frattin since it is all said and done....

Since the above photos not very good, taken with the phone, and not good form to post photo of someone sleeping, posting a few shots Bruce sent from his fishing trip yesterday in WI. Trout season opened up onMarch 6th. He nailed 4 beautiful trout on the Root river.

One good thing about the warm temps is the plunge hole has remained open during that time. Last night the boys and I took a sauna in the wood fired set up and then finished off the evening bath with a plunge into Little Sugarbush. Jake probably holds the record for most months out of the year dipping in to the lake. Probably has only missed the month of December.
We sent out two foreign staff this year, Andre and Pedro, off on Monday. I am sure the next few weeks the comment of "I wonder what Andre and Pedro are doing right now" will surface conversation. They did a great job and probably will never be a year like that again, but every season is like that I guess.
