Celebrated Jake's 17th birthday yesterday. 14,15,16 all kind of seems the same other than the drivers license at 16 but 17 seems "old" and Jake agreed. Cousin Pete with us this week for football camp with Jon so he helped celebrate with an awesome home made turtle pie made by Jonell with home made ice cream after the days activities and pizza at Hotel Shoreham. Jens not happy because somehow and no one knows how, he bumped his mouth on the chair.

Dirt Spanker at Mon Du Lac on tap for mtb racing on Sunday. I haven't missed many Dirtspankers since attending the first one held there in 1992. After digging around in the mtb shirt pile that probably has 3-4 hundred shirts, mostly from the 90's, I realized Dirtspanker is the one race I have the most shirts from. I think it was my first Expert win back in 93 maybe and one other time. The last time I raced there was 2008 and was actually in the lead for a while when the conditions turned perfect but than it dried up and got tacky and SamO went on to win and I couldn't match his pace on the climbs. Speaking of climbing, they used to run switchbacks straight out from the chalet, to the top, back down than all they way up to the top. Did this every lap. Now the course has "tamed" out with only a that stiff climb off the start and not coming back to the chalet until the finish. One of the best courses in the state, imo.

Year of first Expert win.

Was this 99?

In 2000 the design changed big time and wearing this shirt around non mtb people collected stares as if you were promoting a porno movie or something. If you are wondering what the back side looks like, good chance you can check it out on Sunday.

Even though we attended in 07, 08 and Jake in 09 we didn't get any shirts from the recent years. Probably because we have so many already. Maybe I should bring some Maplelag shirts on Sunday to trade with for the last few years we missed getting one. Should be a very exciting race in the Elite race with probably the strongest Elite field ever to race at Mon Du Lac. Tad planning on racing again,
team member Eric Thompson should be ready to go and another team member, Lars Ellefson will be coming in from Durango after watching his sis at state track. Don't let the weather change your mind on going, just go.
