Summer to Fall

Last weekend Jon had his last tourney of the summer, Caribou Cup with his CanAm team. Big tourney from birth years 2003 to 1997. One of the teams they faced was "Traktor", team coached by former MN North Stars Brian Bellows who had a son playing. Even though the end result at the tourney did not equal the outshooting of opponents, all good development and the kids made up from northern MN and southern Ontario get along great, have a good time and a great group of parents making it a pleasurable experience. Most of the kids on the CanAm team will be playing high school (Jon has one more year of bantams after deciding not to play HS Elite D this fall) Will be fun to follow them along the next few years. Like I said before, hockey in the metro area is such a different scene. To keep competitive with the city boys is a challenge no doubt but we are committed to doing it locally, outside the box with some creative twists.

With games early in the day and late at night, we took opportunity to visit my aunt and uncle who live in Edina. My auntie Nancy doesn't have many days left to live but you wouldn't know unless you knew, as Jonell said. Great afternoon visit. Telling and hearing stories and we were all inspired by her positive attitude, live life to the fullest each day demeanor.

Lot of good laughs and learning things we did not know. All good.

Back at the arena for a late night date night game! Watch out for Machine and Blade parents is what the sign should say!

This week has been super busy with end of summer, transition to fall activities for the kids, bike race prep and the sending off of Jake to college. Hooked up for one more ride on the course, with Carlos of course before Jonell and Jon took him to Duluth where Jake will begin his next chapter in life at St Scholastica.

The trails are hard, fast and dusty!! Looks more like mid September in the woods right now. Should be another fun weekend with some great mountain bike folk fellowship.
It is hard to see him go but excited for the new challenges and opportunities ahead.
Seems like yesterday we took the last day of school photo. The house will not be the same and the bros will miss!
