Easter 2014

Easter this year we were home. The only time just us six all together during the year with not much going on. Jake was home for a few extra days from college. We had some really good family time. Easter Sunday about as good as it gets with summer like weather after a great Easter church service.

Enjoying the lake one last time before it melts out this week.

Taking a break from a baseball game in the yard. 70 degrees for the first time feels HOT!!

Still color Easter eggs.

Jake and I took advantadge of the nice weather on Saturday afternoon, exploring the local gravel and forest roads. Earlier in the week Jake discovered a new cutover to make one loop. The loop he rode was 50 miles and the loop we did was 25 miles. Anyways, still have a plan for one big point to point loop race. Would use local forest and gravel roads and 15 miles of singletrack with a little bit of ski trail. This includes building new singletrack by bootleg extension east of Bullhead lake which might be 2-3 years until completed.

On the Sugarbush forest road we rolled on to some nice size bear tracks that weren't more than a day or two old. Had to have pretty good weight to compress the soil this much. Don't feed the bears!!

Jake didn't go back until Monday so the morning we snuck out on the Laddies Loppet loop and pleasantly surprised to fine the whole loop rideable and in pretty good condition for the third week of April. The fall was dry and we had just under 60 inches of snow so the ground absorbed the moisture from the snow nicely. The snowfall we had was the equivalent to around 4 inches of rainfall. Lot of light dry fluffy snowfalls this past winter season. All good.

Got Jonell's dad's old jeep going. Started right up! Little bit of backwoods expoloring.

Evening walk on the lake.

Testing the elasticity!

Beautiful Easter sun set as Jake keeps his dirt jumping skills fresh.

Can't recall a winter we have taken the plunge so many times. The ice had melted from the edge so we had to swim out to take the plunge. Think we have been in the water 12 consecutive months now.
