Always Winter

Weekend past full plate of hockey. Jon was competing in the HP 15 Spring festival for District 15, joined by fellow Detroit Lakes players Josh Bollig (D) and Austin Fritz (G). The team played three games. They lost their first game to eventual tournament winner District 8, moving to consolation bracket. Lost second game in close match with District 10 and finished with win on Sunday with win over District 4. Caught some of the other games, really good fast paced hockey. A handful of kids playing at Shattuck last year and some playing Varsity for AA schools including state champ BSM, giving an idea the level of competition. Jon had a good weekend and was one of the 102 out of 240 at the festival to be picked for the next phase in St Cloud.  Should be a great experience skating with players only possible by being involved with something like this. Mom and dad very proud. Lots of hard work. Dryland, shooting pucks and roller hockey on the court to keep pace with the kids that have ice available all the time.

Jens was playing in tourney in St. Cloud. Once again it was great to stay with family and thanks to Gardens in St Cloud and Horsagers in Rosemount for the hospitality.

Jens' team took third place. This age (9) is suck a blast to watch. With Jon's game early on Sunday, we were able to make it up to watch Jens.
Skiing with Bruce Adelsman April 28th, 2008. It was hard not to think back to four years ago and the storm that hit us the end of the month, providing end of April to May 1st skiing. Now that we are in May, spring snow is not likely to happen.

Skiing with Lars Ellefson, April 29th, 2008. Amazing end to April with skiing not just in the morning the day after but mid winter like conditions for four days!
