Rolling

Last weekend Jon had a tourney in the cities with his CanAm team. The first game wasn't until Friday evening after practice Thursday night so I hooked up with Bruce Adelsman (who runs the top notch website skinnyski.com ) for a road ride. He suggested riding in the Afton area and said he would take me on the 50km rollersking loop a bunch of people get together in the Fall on Sundays to roll. There were some great climbs and some very nice roads near the town of Afton that I see why the top Nordic skiers in the metro use for  roller skiing including Jesse Diggins who lives just off one of the killer hills.
Riding in a nice wooded area before the Cat 4 Coulee climb.
Rider along the river passing a old "pirate ship"
Pretty much a perfect day to ride. Thinking about it, can't remember the last time the weather was so pleasant in the cities during the summer. Always good to catch up with Bruce and talk biking, skiing and hockey. Thanks Bruce for the great ride!
When I got back home, Jon, his Moorhead hockey buddy Codee, Jake and Ethan were having a timed Twinkie eating contest chased down by a packaged brownie. I think Codee won in 57 seconds. Codee will be on of the few 9th graders to play high school at Moorhead.

Jake and Ethan were down for the first part of the weekend to catch a popular music concert and also hit up the popular Thursday night at Buck races. Good to see Jake get back in to it. Crashed on the second lap, hitting the finger, no harm but felt best to take it easy the rest of the night. The next day they were back in the saddle hitting up Lebanon Hills st and waving the old team Zizibaakawadboo team jerseys. Before Maplelag MTB racing, there was team Zizi. Ethan is a new "member for life" so look for Ethan to hit up races when he can. He will be playing Jr Hockey in the Fort this season for the Lakers after having a good showing at their prospect camp.

Jon got his permit last week so he drove in the cities a bit, getting used to the flow there and drove home from Motley Staples which was nice.
