I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning as Jon was sick last night and I didn't sleep much. I woke up around 5 and the lake was a bowl of pea soup so I made some coffe and toast and finally made my way out to the deer stand around 6:30. We had freezing fog this morning so everything was frosted nicely like it does in March. I sat about one hour then I heard this noise near the lake and could see a deer walking the edge but couldn't tell what it was. I figured it was a buck because the does usually don't walk in the marshy stuff like that. I watched it for about 10 mintues then I thought it just went north. About 10 minutes later, it came down the ski trail a bit then went back into the woods and I lost it. It came back into sight and i had the scope on it but wasn't going to shoot. Then it worked the woods a bit more and came about 50 yards away and it now showed a pretty decent rack so I pulled the trigger and it was down just like that after 30 minutes of on the edge excitement. I pulled out the tenderloins and we ate those tonight with some local "real" wild rice. Since it is pretty warm right, I will take it to the procesor tomorrow. This evening I put the headlight on the cross bike and did this 6 minute cross loop for about 50 minutes. Its fun riding in the dark. Posted by Picasa
