When Jake and I got back, Jon, Jonell and I skied a lap at Eagles while Jack went ice fishing with Jonell's dad and Jake watched Jack. They caught a nice 2 1/2 pounder. Cleaned it up and I am going to fry it tonight. We had made plans to go to Duluth and stay at Spirit MNT but I didn't feel like driving 7 hours and wanted to check out ISP and we also celebrated Jonell's moms b-day which was nice. We were hoping to get over to Shingobee and do some sledding and Jake and I were going to jibskate but did not. Shingobee is a crazy place to ski (and bike for that matter) I try to ride over there in the spring to do some hill work. Great place for that.
Today was a full fledge blizzard in the morning. It was sweet. I was thinking about you guys who are riding so much and how the heck a person would ride on a day like today. I did take my mtb on the skate loop yesterday morning. It was just firm enough to stay on top. It was a blast. Maybe in a few weeks I will start riding on the snowmobile trails. Good training for mud conditions. With road bikes so tricked out, seems like the pure mountain biker has died out. Does anyone train with a mtb on the road anymore? Like a 100 mile ride with the mountain bike?
Enjoy the week!

Last year I had a group of like 8 guys over for a ride through the Afton area and the Thompsons rode their mtbs.Eric on his Fuel and John on his lightspeed. Here we are with our 16lb tricked rd bikes and Eric's taking his turn at the front with a full. That was like 60 miles. He gets faster every year, so I gotta watch out.ISP was fun wasn't it?
Cool. Thanks for the comments on road riding with the mountain bike. 81 miles is a big jag man. Beautiful day. Out to ski now. I feel better then I thought I would after the classic intervals last night.
