Jonell and Jens enjoying the beautiful day today. Tomorrow is March 1st. The best month for skiing. The angle of the sun, longer days, good snow. Look forward to it. Every year the goal is to ski my age in k's on my birthday (March 26th) At this point it looks good. The only bummer thing is my ribs. I decided to bag going to the DR as there isn't much he can do and I rather be outside doing something then tapping my foot for 2 hours in a waiting room. I will have to ski without poles which is fine. Maybe it will make my legs stronger.
Well, the trip to Hockeytown was quite the adventure. Going up was fine. The kids read books and Jens napped for 2 hours. When he woke up things got kinda crazy as we didn't stop and the kids were getting a bit stir crazy. We made it in about 3 hours from DL so it was a fine trip. Nice country to travel across. The last time I went up that route to Greenbush/Roseau was when I went to Sandilands.
We rolled in about 5:45 which gave us 1:15 to eat. We decided to go to the Chinese joint in town. We ordered and after 30 mintues we still did not have our food. My dad asked the waitress and 15 min later still nothing. At this point you can imagine now a 9, 7, and 3 year old were acting after being in the car for 3 hours and no food. Turns out they lost the ticket. My dad was pretty upset so he went into the kitchen to ask if there was anything they could bring out. At that point it just was a riot. The two cooks came out to apologize (Chinese) and they felt really bad but could hardly speak English. The kids tried their best to speak Chinese to copy them and the table next to us busted out laughing. Finally the food came out and it was a mad rush as it was 7pm and the game was probably starting. We left and I told my dad I didn't feel like I ate anything. Oh man, you just had to be there to get the full effect. Kids noises, Jack "we never are going to get our food".
The game was good. DL played real strong and just came up short. Warroad scored on their first and fouth shots of the game to go up 2-0. After that it was pretty much all DL. They just didn't get the puck to bounce right to get better scoring chances. I have seen a lot of Warroad teams play and this team was good but not great. Nothing against DL as they had a solid team. The rink was real nice. Nothing fancy like the Ralph in GF. Haven't been to the one in TRF. Anyways, lots of hockey history. Almost like a mini hall of fame with shrines of the Warroad players who have been on the Olympic team, NHL, hall of fame and all the teams that have been to state and won championships. The concessions had prices in CAN and US. Nice. Anyways, Jack and Jens were wound up pretty good and I don't think they sat still more then 2 minutes. It was fun and a nice break out. Game over at 9pm and home by midnight. The last hour was tough. The bag of beef jerkey and snickers helped but still woozy.
Warroad now plays TRF and in AA Roseau plays Moorhead in St. Cloud for section Championship. Some great hockey. If Roseau wins, might try to catch the opening game of State next Thursday. Bruce, want to go again?
Well, off to groom on the lake and sneak a ski in. A quiet night tonight so Jonell and I are going to go to Fargo for a date night and Brazil staffer Marina will watch the kids.
