Boy, where did the past five days go. The past two were spent at Jonell's parents cabin near Naytawaush on south Twin Lakes. First off, the weather was just perfect. In fact I can't remember a summer like this one with so many drop dead like days. NW wind with cool nights has been a dream. Maybe we will get the real humid stuff in July but for now, I'll take it. We had some nice summer time activities with lots of swimming, playing baseball with the kids and nephews, waterskiing, sailing and burning stuff in the fire pits. The kids did most of that and Jonell's dad wasn't too happy with Jack burning plastic zip ties, understandbly. Floyd Landis was right. Jonell's mom made a great meal last night with the bbq pork, roast chicken, mashed potatoes, to name a few. A brat leftover from lunch so I ate that as well. Fireworks all around the lake and had to call it a night after 1.5hrs of watching those and three bowls of Fruit loops, another bbq "with all that you eat, I can't believe you are that thin".
Jonell's dad had a good idea for a float for the water parade so we took the john boat and put that under the sail boat and put a bunch of flags on the mast. To go all the way around the lake took about 1.5hrs. Jake, Jens, Jonell's dad and brother, nephews Ripley and Grant and I truely waved the flag for the home team. Ripley fell asleep halfway through. My camera is still at the lake so will post some photos later.
On the waterskiing, Jake learned to ski with one and Jon was able to get up on his own. Jack tried it but said next year he will get it. Jonell skied last night, pulling a nice slalom run and I got the itch so I took a run as well. I told her brother to take a short run but it was close to a death pull. We even did a weed run. My arms and legs were burning and I thought for sure I would be feeling it this morning but when I rode back over this morning, cranking out a few intervals, it was alright. Much better than expected.
Jake and I rode a couple of hours yesterday on part of the point to point course. When we turned around he said "how fast do you want to go?" and I said as fast as he wants so he attacked all the climbs. The woods are really dry up there and the riding was perfect. I did intervals on the quad trails coming back home this morning and it was a blast. Hopefully I can figure out a date in the next few weeks to have anyone that is interested, come on over.
Well, better get out to the woods and work on some singletrack. We are cutting a ton of new stuff. A fast lap on Fri with all the new stuff..... about 7 minutes away to getting the lap how I want it for this year. The lines we are working on now should add about 3-4 minutes and next week cut one more section.
