Last night of bmx racing for the year. We haven't gone in like a month it seems. New track operators and they totally re-worked the track, putting in some new jumps and tweaking the berms. And they took out a section of the chain link, and using it for a drag to buff things out. Real nice. They had a cruiser class tonight and kicking myself I didn't bring the bike in. But did a race pace on Sport/Loop so that was enough excercise for the day after swinging the pulaski a good chunk of the day. Jon raced Intermediate for the first time and did fine. The #5 plate is Sara Omvag and she has won state the last three years. The first two races he got beat but the last one he threw it all done and took the win. Speaking of bmx stuff, we got our little track all tweaked and buff and should be fun for those that want to hit it this weekend. Like I said I did a Sport/Expert lap and did it in about 50. So assuming Jeff, Doug, Paul, Justin, Brendan, Sam etc. race that pace, probably a bit faster on the first lap and the course stays relatively dry the winning expert time will be about 1:40. A little bit of rain would be okay to tack up the uphills that are a little loose right now. My thinking is that it is better to have a bit shorter xc race in the stage race to make things more tighter and exciting. If you had a 2:15 hour race, the time gaps to tenth place etc might be 20 minutes and kind of defeats the purpose of having a stage event. Jake did a lap yesterday in 1:12. We took a few inches off some of the drops so they are easier to ride now. Man, was it fast tonight and just about perfect. I think it is like the only third time in my life I was able to big ring the entire course. That tandem is building some power, even though the rides have been under an hour.
