Today I was going to groom North Loup so it would be better skiing but it was just too cold to make sense of that so I groomed a 700 meter loop closer to the lodge that has great snow coverage. I used the 5, 7, and 9 footer, making about 20 passes. I had about 2-3" ginzooed on the surface and within a hour it set up nice and firm. Great surface. Pretty much perfect. Didn't get out til later but ended up doing 35 laps to get a hour in. It was kind of fun actually. I am hoping the loop holds out until my birthday on March 26th. Might be tough to get through the weekend. I was real close to biking on the trails since everything stayed solid all day. The lakeside singletrack is pretty much void of snow and rideable when frozen. The first day "off" was great. Although we did do the DL wrestling banquet tonight. We planned for 90ish thinking 75 would show up. I think 53 came but they ate like 100. End of season and those guys eat like crazy. Funny thing cutting weight and what not for wrestling. For cycling, any sensible weight loss transfers hugely for climbing. Same for skiing really. Although the bigger guys claim they go faster downhills!
