Jonell wanted to visit her Grandma in the Twin Valley nursing home today. With the wind blowing like mad, once again, I thought I would put the bobcat work I was going to do today on hold and wind pace there via a few extra miles since a tail wind was in order. So I left a bit earlier and logged the longest ride of the year at 50 miles. Nice to clip along 25-30 at times. Averaged 21 on the day. When I walked into the nursing home. Jens was two wings away from her room. Yikes!! But there are enough nurses and therapists around to make sure he doesn't unplug anything to make issue. I think the Srs like seeing him and his bubbling energy.

Jonell's Grandma is 96 years old. She is doing okay. The first time I went to see her was back in the early 90's when I was just getting into riding/racing. No road bike so I pumped up the Farmer John and Farmer John cousin and rode from Fargo to Gary, where she lived at the time. I will never forget the first meal. Baked ham with pineapple, scalloped potatoes with plenty of butter, creamed green beans and fresh bread with lots of butter of course and whole milk. Dessert was a malt made with whole milk of course. A nice meal after a 3 hour ride.
After the visit we stopped at the classic diner in Twin Valley. Places like this in small towns are few and far between. Love spots like this. You can really learn a lot about the town/area listening to the locals etc. Hot turkey was the special for the day. Real mashed potatoes. Tons of gravy. You don't go into a place like that and ask for gravy on the side. If you do, they know you are out of town. You just throw it down and call it good. Jonell only ate half of hers so I polished off hers and some of Jen's fries.
On the way home we had to make a stop at Frenchmen's Bluff. Jens wanted to look for buffalo. A name like this just calls for that first kiss. I looked at the visitor log and I think 50 people had been there since 2002. Some fun terrain. Great views on to the beautiful prairie. I think there is one trail. Never have really explored around there. Jens did a nice job taking the pic. I love my wife.

Thanks Samo. If all our boys get along like you and Eric when they grow up, I'll be a happy man.
