Jake put it well when he said "thats the best, when we all race" In addition to Jonell's parents coming to watch, my parents came over to take in the action. The expert course didn't lend itself for lots of racer viewing action as the full lap was nearly 50 min long but we gave them an exciting finish. Cool and windy but a another great day at the races.

Jon started out the day racing Kids Comp. He was using Jakes dirt jumper. Jon said he had a blast. Jon and I are trying to talk Jake into letting Jon use Jakes bike for Maplelag kids comp...

...since Jake had to use my bike since he broke his chain right before his start, tried to fix it but it was toast so we got a new chain from Trent Warner. Put the new chain and pulled a bonehead move, not running it through the cage since I was getting frantic. However, Jake scores his first win in the Sport class. He didn't like how I had the fork set up but said it was "a climbing machine".
Jack in the kids race.
Jens in the kid race. Riding around all day.
No granny gear today. The climb from the chalet to the top of Spirit Mountain was all big ring. How Chris Fisher came around and snuck a valve cap length for the sprint is impressive. Is Paul's wheel off the ground? Great racing, great people. Nice races by the youngans Trent Warner who took the win last week and followed up with a second today in Citizen. Shea was fifth Citizen for a very solid race. He and Jake bled and breathed bikes all week with track sprinting and those hill sprints on Suicide so they were ready to rock. Jake was pumping up Shea all week. Matty Wenzel had strong race. Lars E was dicing it with Jake, caught a flat and had to dnf. Asked me if he would do any good in Comp. I told him to go for it so he ends up 7th. Nice. He can rip it in the singletrack.

Drove north after the race to Grand Marais for a few days of family vacation. Jake and I are going to try and ride at Lutsen for a couple of hours tomorrow and we brought the tandem along as well. Lot more bike paths up here now since last time up here. Should be fun.

How did they decide who won between you and Fisher? I sure couldn't tell. Either way, it was an exciting finish!

Jake, nice work on the win! I told Ben on the way home that in a few years when I am at the back of the pack, you will be the young gun putting pressure on him=)

I'm not sure. Probably GB and co. I asked the rd and he said he had no decision on the matter as he didn't see it. I was told after the finish that had taken it but it was too darn close. Either way, it was all good. Nice job yourself. Thanks!

No fair loading all the classes with your MTB prodigy kids. Are you trying to set up a dynasty or something? How do you expect us sport class riders to have any hope with the next ten years of podiums loaded with little Richards'?

-Good job to the entire Richards clan.

Haha, nice picture. Looks like I was doing a little wheelie. Chris had the right line on the outside avoiding all those rocks. I thought it was just hilarious watching you two plow through all that tape... Maybe GB will change it up next time to prevent that mess.
Did you see the sequence Dana took of us starting the sprint? Awesome!!!
