Was hoping to have a race recap (the plan was to hit Milaca on Sunday) but too many bases to cover here on Sunday. Lodge in the morning, Jon to hockey which allowed Dunton Locks cx II. Got home and 1.5hrs open so went back on the deer stand. Just as I was about to get down, a nice 8 pointer comes down the ski trail all hot for a doe,, stops, had my shot and I miss. Take a another shot through the brush, miss and then it stops on next ski trail over. Small opening but in the cross hairs, shoot and can't tell. Wait five mintues. Get down and look for blood but too dark so get a flashlight but still can't see so decide to go check this morning. Went to the spot and a bunch of hair but no blood. I zig zagged back and forth all over and no blood so I probably just grazed it in the brisket area. Dang. Still was a nice season. The weather was quite pleasant and was easy to sit on the stand.

Jens not only hauled decoys back today, he ran them back. Ice still hanging on the smaller lakes. There were about 100 bluebills on north Twin. I really should try and get out because northern bird hunting is a riot.
Global warming at a xc ski resort is good for.......not having to turn the heat on? The electric boilers to heat the water for the in floor heat have been pretty quiet this fall. On two days in September, 0 days in October and so far in November, 3 days. Not like it hasn't been cold enough though.

The entertainment factor is high on pushing over deadfall but hopefully it snows in a few weeks as I don't think I'll get as excitement out of it as long as Jens will.

HS Nordic skiing started today. I wonder if anyone was on snow. Trollhaugen not open until end of the week . My only guess would be Bemidji skiing at Buena Vista or Alex at Andes but first day, probably not. Maybe later this week. I know Duluth East is taking two buses to West Yellow on Friday so they will have a nice start to the season. Doug said it was snowing last night and I talked to some folks today and they said it was about 2-3".
