When snow was forecasted for this morning I didn't expect to wake up to white after temps near 60 yesterday (record high in Grand Forks). I thought the ground was too warm for it to stick. Took kids out to bus and it was 36. That would be the high for the day as it keep dropping down to a low of 30. I had a 45 minute window to ride. So I busted out on the trails because surely the neighbors would of said enough is enough and checked me into a mental hospital with the wind kicking the winchill down to the upper teens/lower 20's in the open country if I would of rode on the road. Oddly enough, the singletrack was clear of snow and riding nice. The temp was cold enough to freeze things down and by later afternoon when I went out the little bit of moisture made things tight. Not sloppy or sticky where the snow gets all clumpy, really perfect. Man, this fall the great riding has been endless. Hopefully these teaser snows are done waiving their flag and the next shot is for real.
The plan is to hit state cx this Saturday and then maybe head out to West Yellow for a few days. I talked to Andy Gerlach today of the Subaru/Salomon team and he said it snowed 5 in Bozeman last night but nothing up at West which is backwards. Going to decide tomorrow I guess.
Little practice up and down Suicide today. Yeah, should of shouldered the bike on the run up. Fun stuff nontheless riding in the white stuff. The bike season is ending like it started.
