Finally got a ski in with Lars. Longest ski of the year for me at almost 2 hours. Winter is going by too fast...... 8 x 1min intervals. I was the rabbit, he was the bear. He would give me 10-15 seconds and then try to catch me, mainly doing the longer hills. Sun came out at the end on the cool down laps. Very nice. Wind was raw. Felt great though and feeling better about maybe doing longer races in the 35k range... Yesterday was warmer air temp but felt colder than today which was 20 degree cooler?!?. Crazy weather. Now cold is fore casted and the media......such nice people. ARGH!

Jake and I strided after school today. Same thing....seems like it has been too long since we have skied together.....so this week has been good. The stuff I groomed today was just bomber. Super hard tracks and great glide in the cold temps. The new snow today groomed in very well and erasing the old track went much better than I thought. The stuff that had the fresh from today was harder kicking and slippy. Jake loves to classic easy but not fond of racing or skiing hard classic so we are tying to find the love. Classic is a funny technique. Some people really struggle with it and the whole wax thing but its the best thing to do when the temps tank and skating is like skiing on a beach. Its how I learned and skied that for 14 years before skate came on the scene. I think everyone should start out classic, do that at least 5 years than skate. On that note, the Birkie should be strictly classic every other year. That way the skate lifies would either have to learn classic or sit out every other year. In Norway, the birthplace of the Birkie, its still classic and with the weighted backpack. And we might produce better skiers......

Jon had practices crimmage last night so I took him and and watched him. Varsity had game against Crookston afterwards so we watched part of that until Jake got home from his ski meet. DL won 3-1. They looked good. DL has a solid goalie. I think everyone I talked to at the game last night made reference to the Warroad/Roseau game last week.
