Wow, what a great weekend to end the Holiday season. Jake was up at da Ridge skiing at the huge Messabi meet. (photo by Ron K of Jake chasing Alex skier off the start)
Jake was 79th in the Varsity skate race. Only 2:30 out of first. 2nd 8th grader. Great race. He has kept pretty low key this year with the ski training but now the next three weeks Dad will help him out with the focus on Sections. Outside chance to make state. Getting into the best time of winter.
DL hosted a Squirt tourney this weekend. Jonell covered for me and worked like 9 shifts. Concessions, admissions, timing clock. They won their first three games so that put them in the Championship game today at 2:15 and I was able to go in. Wow, what a game. 0-0 until 50 seconds left in the first period and the Grand Forks blue scores. Second period Jon buried one up top middle of the period and it was 1-1. Stayed that way the rest of the game. Go to OT, no scoring. Shootout. Jon went first and scored and after first shoot out it was still tied. Round 2 of four shooters and comes down to the last player and DL takes the tourney. Man, I was on the edge of my seat until the second period I had to stand like Jonell who was moving all over the place. Great stuff. Jon with some of his team mates showing off the hardware. Zorbaz afterwards and filled that cup up with soda pop and were passing it around. Good times. Their record is now up to 15-1.

Some bike connnections this past weekend......Greg Johnson on skaters waltz with his cousin Keven. Wallace and Becky Alexander here as well with Becky's Breck team.
Jeff Robertson with the Rochester Ski club. They have close to 100 members!! About 70 here this past weekend. Jeff is the facilitator for the MNSCS. If you like series racing, better thank Jeff for all his hard work. Jeff is working on some things to help with youth development. Good guy.
Papa P-Cakes. Craig comes into the rental shop and asks me "Two years ago I left a plastic wax bag, any chance its around ?" I have a bunch of wax kits that have been left and sure enough I had his. Couldn't believe it. He was hooting and hollering. Click on the photo to get a closer look at those hot tights. Oh man, never a dull moment.
Ended the day/night on the ice rink with the whole family on the ice, including Jonell. Winter is great!!
