We are in Puerto Vallarta now for our last few days. We had some great days in Sayulita with some incredible riding and fun family memories. Almost 800 pictures taken with something always neat and interesting around the corner so hard to pic out the ones that stand out. One thing I love about Sayulita is the food options on the street. It truely is "Mexican". Sure there are the sugar coated restaurants popping up to cater to the large influx of American tourists coming to the area but the food on the street is the real deal. Made often times at home and usually right on the street with local ingredients of course.

These coconuts were loaded with liquid. Very rich to drink. Very impressed with the machete action and the mode of transportation is top notch.

Same mode of transportation, boiled and smoked corn. They could use a saddle upgrade but always plenty of laughs to go around.

Even the taxi drivers, my favorite people to try and talk with, have something. I was a little hesitant trying this but it was a flower with this soft white seed inside. Sweet tasting. No worries the next morning.

Baked goods galore.

Also was a truck going up and down the streets selling everything you can think of. No big stores in Sayulita. Trucks with local fresh fruit and vegetables, trucks with just water, trucks with gas for stove and water heater, pretty much everything most homes needed. Almost everyone has chickens in their back yard cover the pollo and huevos.

This was 4 clicks out of Sayulita. Jake and I were riding pavement and I wanted to ride a little more so I went back to Punta Mita and this guy was cleaning fish he caught that morning. It would be like walking in Calhoun square and some guy cleaning fish he caught in Lake Calhoun to cook up and sale on the street. Wouldn't happen. Jonell said if I took a picture of someone selling food or what not, I had to try it. Jonell wasn't along.

Local shrimp.

There are quite a few roadside taco stands. Have never had a problem other than overdoing it on the jalepenos. Cesar's cooker was the best. Elevated circle for cooking and the finished product on the sides ready to make tacos, and tilted so the juices run to one end. All these gu

Jonell said they were the best tacos she has had.

We were going to hook up with Adrian again to ride some different trails but he picked up some bug surfing he said. So when we rode trail again, we did the San Pancho ride. We found this road that climbed higher from the main jungle trail, making about a 15 minute climb from sea level. The last day we did some repeats on it, three times for Jake and four for me.

The second time through I thought it would be easier but this section was scary.

Last time up was feeling it exposed in the sun but felt pretty good.

One rooty section put Jake otb and we lost our pump. Next morning we were going to try and borrow one from Adrian but he wasn't around so we chanced it and figured the road would be best option. We did the Ranchito climb three times and were going down the other side and sure enough Jake flatted. A nice size nail through the sidewall.

Amazingly 100 meters away there was a tire repair set up. The guy was used to fixing big tires for the heavy trucks and what not for the construction in the area. We had extra tubes and tire levers but no air. Should of had a presta adapter but no luck. But he came up with something and we got rolling. Mexican music in the background, quite the experience. Super nice guy. He wanted 10 pesos but gave him 50 because a taxi ride back would of been at least double that.

Today we did a tune up ride in the foothills around PV for a big Sierra Madre ride tomorrow. We found a hardware store that had schraeder tubes since we are out of patches and regular tubes. Picked up some of those and I stopped by a local mtber that had a adapter so should be set for tomorrow. They weigh a ton but should work. Jake flatted again yesterday. Between the two of us we are up to 8 flats. 1 nail, 2 hard hits on rocks and the rest these nasty thorns that are like nails. It's all good.

First race in the series is always exciting. Should be fun. Hope to be there.
Too bad for you guys that there are no hills at Harmon. I think the strong corn field headwinds are going to be more beneficial.
How do the locals like your salsa jersey. You fit right in with the foliage.
The ice on our lake will be off by tomorrow. A few days behind but I thought it would stick around longer a week ago.
