Vern, Trapper, Flipper and I were all going to hook up for a ride on the Maplelag expert loop in the evening but rain moved in and put the hot laps on hold. Jake and I were okay doing at least a lap in the rain and grease but to have those other guys come over for just one lap... wasn't worth it. So Zigs is off to VT today and will look forward to seeing him when we go to MT Snow (was reading about the Kingdom trails last night and would be fun to check that out when out there) And hopefully we can connect with Lars one more time before he heads to Durango. Anyways, it rained about 1.5" last night and probably half of that during our 45 minute ride. Its all about Vermont for us so riding in these conditions is good training......and lots of fun! Before we went, Jens said it might not be a good idea to ride in the rain. WHAT!! Yeah right Jens, what about the mud puddles in the spring? Its fun Dad! Well Jens, its fun to ride in the rain sometimes. Fair enough....Jonell might not agree!

Since we were only riding a lap and it wasn't turned up and not too "muddy". Just greasy and slippery. After coming a bit unglued on the first lakeside drops which were muddy , Jake was sticking the rest of the track nicely and riding smooth lines...
...until going in a bit hot and juicy on the last technical drop near the end and getting close to the swamp water. It's tough to keep the flipper away from water.
Tires free of mud. Standing water helped keep things clear.
Last load of logs set to go to the mill yesterday. Probably the biggest load ever with 17 logs on. Just barely cleared inspection. All poplar and basswood so the weight is less. Our 1-2 loads turned into five loads. We are getting a nice pile of posts and lumber to be used for future construction.
Skiing in May and June bugs in May. Jack just can't understand why we have June bugs in May. Its time to put the screens on when these guys come out. The other night they were buzzing our bed, dropping pretty low to our heads so I had to get up and go on a fighter mission.
