Father's day weekend at the WORS Cup was top notch. The Super D was so much fun. Amazing how fast the drive over and back went. Seemed like nothing. I was running hot in Wautona and had a short conversation with a police officer, setting me back 80 and running the nerves a bit high but Jonell kept things chilled as possible.

Rolled into the preferred parking space for families of six from Northern MN, (near Fargo as Don said). Jack and Jens had 15 minutes to get up to the line and did just that having fun along the way. Thanks to Mom covering the bases on that as Jake and I were getting ready for our race.
Not at the line when Jonell took the pic. First expert race for Jake. Jake was racing X because he still needed to qualify for JR Expert 15-16 since he bumped up this year. Told him just finish. If he finished dead last, no worries. Good training. Would of been nice to have more JR racers. Jake was talking to a Comp guy and he said they were sand bagging in Comp.

He ended up having a fantastic race, finishing 40th overall among all 75 expert/semi-pro/Pro riders, first in class and 23rd among all experts. My goal was to finish top 10. With the huge field and big guns from all over I knew it would be tough but had a great last lap, catching 3 riders and finished 9th overall. Great course.

Bender, DePearsio, and Carl Lewis post race. Bender came ripping hell bent for election on the fourth lap and I tried to stay with him but he was flaming. Still kept him in the sights and pulled me along when it was getting tough mentally.
Jenna Zander and Jake. Jenna dominated once again.
Jon raced Citizen youth. The kids at the front were amped and Jon was Jon, shrugging the shoulders "whatever". Had a pretty good start and moved his way up to finish 2nd overall and 2nd in his age class.
Mom cheering on Jon. Jon looked like most other kids in Citizen youth, too small for the kit, bike maybe bigger then the rider and helmet etc. too big but going great guns and racing, racing racing. Jon was a spinning machine.
Don fine tuning the stxc course during Citizen awards Sat. night. Talked to Don a lot. Don did fantastic job with the whole event. Top notch.
Riding the high speed triple up to the top for Sunday Super D. My goal was to win. Originally I thought it would be more like a time trial but it was la mans start. I knew getting to the front in our heat of 10 was the key. For a 8 minute race, a all out sprint was in order. For not running for two years other than around the resort....it was fine. Anyone can do anything in the heat of the moment. Its the day after. Man am I sore right now. Anyways, Paul Hanson blew to the front like Carl Lewis and was front right off the bat. I was in sixth spot and almost impossible to move up until Guerra went down. Peariso tried hard to get mad but he's just too nice of a guy. I went around those two and was in fourth spot and maybe 30 seconds back of Carl, TJ Woodruff and Jesrin Gaier. I closed down about 10 seconds and that was it. Having those guys out in front to chase though was key as I barely beat Brian Matter by a few tenths of a second. Bottom line, the Super D was a total rush and ripping the 8 minute course with those guys was about as good as it gets for racing. Great job to Paul for getting out in front and riding super clean. When is the next one?
Jon, Jack and Jens at the top of the hill. Jon wanted to race again so we signed him up for Citizen Super D. He raced with 14-18 year olds. Jon is 10, racing age 11 with July birthday.
Jon was 8th at the start and rode nicely for 11th place finish. "That was a great course" Jon said over and over. Jake was fourth in his heat and I think 23rd overall. (Haven't seen final results at time of writing)
Short track was last race and I was still amped from the Super D. I wanted to have a good start. I was able to get the hole shot with the sprinter right behind me. I thought this was cool, Paul and I could maybe work together and maybe snatch the time bonus and move up a spot on the GC. I was prepared to go all out, as hard a possible as long as possible.
At the bottom of the hill near the chair lift base, I didn't think to slow down. In the warm up laps I didn't brake and didn't think to brake on that first race lap. I launched off the drop, flew maybe 10 feet in the air, flat landed, braked quickly, bermed off the dirt pile and pulled it out. Paul was laughing his head off (only because I didn't go down he said). On the base of the climb I was freaked. It could of been ugly and I was completely jaded. My heart was racing and one of those moments when your life flashes in front of you. Ten people maybe passed me right away as I had to sit up for a moment and collect myself. Starting cranking it again and caught a few riders before coming up to Paul. Ee rode the rest of the race together. We caught Jake on the last lap which was good as the lap were only 3 minutes. Not sure how he finished overall.
All in all, a super fun weekend, great event and fun to have the family along. Nordic MT did some neat things with old skis on the chairs and in particular garbage cans and might try making some of those. My third goal was to finish top 5 overall and did that with #5 after all three races. The xc pretty much determined the GC but there are still the two other races and anything can happen. Ride home we stopped twice, 45 minutes total and about 8 hours to get home. Thankfully a safe trip. Played chicken with a skunk and we both won.

haha great post! I got some cash for ya to repay the po-po... I had a nice chat with one as well south of Jordan. Luckily I got off with a warning. I did have to spend $95 getting my car towed out of DePeriso's driveway... What a weekend ;)
