I gave Jonell a hard time when she was sporting the gum shoes earlier in the week......she even strutted around town with them. But it was a good call...going on 8 days straight of rain at least some point during the day. Good week teaching/having Vacation Bible school with the cooler temps. Jonell and I had a great class. Pastor Greg said thank God for mud. I like that. It has been a mud week for sure trying to get stuff down outside and sneak rides in here and there. Mud tires are on and ready to roll.
Late this afternoon I saw this white shiny thing on the lake, wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Got excited but 45 min later, heavy drizzle again. Typical for this time of year. Its quite alright to have weather like this. Reminds me of west coast Norway, New Hampshire and living in Essex. Got the dock pretty much at the highest setting. Will have to shim the bottom I guess.
When you have to call this in, not a good sign, but gets the job done nicely.

Chris pre rode today and said the bottom of the valley is muddy- the start to the bridge loop. I think they might run us along the service road after the parking lot way down at the end to get us to the bridge loop because they have some washout mats on the hill and a bunch of fire wood blocking the singletrack last time I was there. I know this part will be muddy too. They also cut some new singletrack to detour around some wash out sections and some new tight switchbacks. Nothing technical though. It sounds like it will be a repeat of today where it rained at night and hot and muggy during the day. We had a lot of sun today with light winds. With Afton being sandy and 90% on a steep slope I think Karmas will do fine. I'm not planning on bringing the big mud slingers.
