Last time I flooded the rink was mid December. The sun on Saturday and even sun action on days like today when temp hovers around 0, starts to eat at any dark areas so I figured I better give it a good hose down. I was going to flood it yesterday but just a little water in the hoses at -12 froze before the water from the hydrant got through so I had to coil everything back up, crank up the barrel stove and thaw everything out.

According to Andy Lia, the KDLM sports announcer, the record time at the DL Kent Freeman for resurfacing is 6 minutes and 39 seconds, I think, he said. I took me three hours today. Even though the temp camped out around 0, standing in the sun is good. I was looking at that sun thinking it is the same sun the surfer dudes in Sayulita are getting baked with.

The far end got a bit cheezy from some ground water seeping through for a few days the first part of January. It stopped and gave it a good soak today so the whole surface is good. Hopefully we can skate through March. Jonell was at the rink tonight talking to some Bantam A parents and how a kid is having a hard time this year. She told them to join skiing. Nicely done Jonell recruiting.

This week starts the next 6 best weeks of the winter. All the Nordic Section races are this week and hs hockey is starting to take shape on which teams are coming around and which teams are having problems. Adelsman is hitting 4 Sections between today and tomorrow. Nice. A dream would be to hit all Nord Section races and all Section finals for hockey. We made some adjustments on Jake's classic poles and I told him it will take 20 seconds off. He likes the Camp Ripley course and everything should be all good. Should be some exciting racing in both girls and boys events with all the skiers ready to wave the flag.
