Jonell summed it up best after the action packed weekend. "Lots of good people this past weekend". A little shot of rain Thursday night made for some serious groom time but things turned out pretty good for Lotvola Cup race day on Saturday.
Bruce and Margaret Adelsman...together!! Once again Bruce took top notch photos of the racing action and spent way too much time fixing too many Maplelag computer. Hopefully Thursday I can set him up with some state hockey tickets. Thanks again Bruce!
Conrad Roberts en route to the win. Skis with a passion and desire. Combine that with a big engine. Look out. Took the plunge post race with Jake for unique recovery.
Brother Wynn having fun with the woodies. Flew to Vancover today for Biatholon World Cup. Nice interview on skinnsyki by Anne E.
Jon's team and families spending half the weekend for end of season celebration/banquet. Jon coming up after dropping in. Lots of plunge action this year with insurance company saying good to go and people feeling like they missed out.
Coach Jesse "Dice" Disse. Only adult. Takes lots of guts to do the plunge and lots of guts to coach squirt hockey for two years. Nicely done.
Jack smiles in the kids race.
Struchy waving the flag.
Luke Baker passing Jake on the uphill doing double pole. He and dad Jack did it with skate skis and double poled everything. I don't think their skis left the tracks. Tough. Luke has grown 3" since I saw him at the bike race and he said he is 6 "2" now. Look out Twin Towers.
Jake heading down to Twin Lakes. Blew his wax shortly after. Didn't want to do klister so a lesson learned.
Finish.
Jack in the tracks. Sukkerbusk and Sap Run were want I wanted but Twin Lakes and Bullhead could of been a bit better. I was banking on a bit of snow Friday night so I held off grooming but instead the temp tanked to single digits making for grind of a groom.
Jeff Hanson looking completely relaxed.
Bill Benson back for another weekend and some racing. Benson family always coming for the bike race but wedding this fall in Fernie BC will have them going west. Hopefully we cand sneak up to West Hawk Lake for some racing at Falcon Lake and check out their playground.
Curtis Larson waving the flag.
Alan Shuros with the woodies. Asked for a belt sander before the race so he could shave down the tips since they were scrapping the tracks. Had sawdust all over him and was ready to rock. Good stuff.
Looking very nice near the finish. Alan and Craig Stolen asked me if I wanted to ski all the trails Sunday morning. Time change threw things off a bit. Monday next year!
Tony Schmitz. Designed the t-shirt for this year and also did the Maplelag/Paramount kit designed which will get displayed once the new rides roll in.
We still do the timing and results old style. We lost the boards from the 70's which we still had but from 2001 on fun to look at the different names and times. Conrad and Leif were shooting for Piotr's time but missed it by about 3 minutes.
DK ski team banquet Sunday night at the resort topping off a nice near the end of the season weekend. Bike talk, ski talk, hockey talk. Doesn't get better. Blizzard tomorrow....riding put on hold another week. Skiing just to nice!

Hey Jay,
Looks like alot of action last week.
Those old time lists are great, I pulled it up and saw my good buddies name on there. Mike Gray(58th), I've worked with Mike for 30 years. His 3 sons, Rory(16th), Dallas(17th)and Nick(47th) are all on the results. Mike is from Elk River and his boys all raced under coach Rollie R. during High School. Great family, Mike put in many hours working on the xc ski trails near Elk River.
Did you get hit with the blizzard?
Good stuff.
Yeah, nice storm. School canceled for two days.
