Yesterday Jonell said our car needed to go to town to get the windshield fixed so I said I would gladly take it in and ride home. Rode a couple hill repeats at "the mountain" and then did some gravel grinding, even found a new forest road, making way back home. Stretching a 20 mile ride to 40 mile ride. Car was ready today so planned on riding in to pick it up. Left early and figured would try to get a longer ride in, back on the mtb, hoping for 80.

Did White Earth loop before heading back south. Was going to ride as much gravel/forest road as possible to DL. Wind was forecasted to be nw so figured once I rolled through the fine town of White Earth I would have mostly tail wind to town. Wrong. Wind was more southwest which was nice to WE but once I slingshotted around, I was fighting the wind. Today was one of those days of falling temps. With wind gusts up to 35 and air temp around 40, I froze. Like couldn't feel my hands and feet cold. Probably coldest of the year. I don't mind riding in cooler temps/ "weather" but I was under dressed. Like the saying goes, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing. I called Jonell and she met me at the end of the goat ranch road with a jacket, leg warmers and fleece booties. Took 10 min to get my veins back to normal from pin size. Made it in to DL and wasn't going to let the wind get the best of me so went more south around Sallie and Melissa, back around Detroit catching some wind. Didn't make 80 but a metric century on the mtb fighting wind just as good.

Thanks Jonell for coming to the rescue. Jonell takes care of us like nothing else. We are very fortunate.

I have never seen so many pelicans and cormorants on our lake like this spring. Yesterday they were strung out for at least 3/4ths of a mile. They have been fighting over fish like crazy. I think they moved on. Was fun watching them. The cormorants would dive down, get a fish and the cormorants would attack them. Now and then the pelicans would scoop in and pick something up. Watching them catch wind and soar inches above the water is pretty much awesome. Hopefully we still have some fish left in the lake.
