Jonell had these photos sitting on the counter earlier this Spring and I thought she maybe picked them up at a garage sale or the Shadow Hollow Flea Market, one of the best flea markets in the Midwest they say. (For non-racers during the Laddies Loppet weekend, something to check out)
Anyways, she said it is her great grandparents. I said I am not worthy. I told Jake he better thank his great great grandparents for the time they put in because some of those genes passed along. A person shouldn't have to go in to detail how tough these folks were but I can't help but wonder the type they work they did, trying to make a go off the land. Their parents had immigrated from Norway like many other immigrants, looking for a better way of life. The thing that fascinates me the most are the bikes, of course. You wonder if they did any short track racing for fun around the homestead or drag races etc. It would be pretty sweet to put them on a modern day rig and have a go. Those bikes weren't the lightest I am sure but solid and built to last. And to top of it, showing nice form with the threads and watch hanging around the neck. Maybe used for timing. Very nicely done.


The plan is to hit the big WORS cup this weekend and race it up with the rock stars and triple crowners of WORS. Those guys have been getting a lot of National attention.....I hope they still talk to me. Ha! Going to try and recruit the ringers to come race over here come Labor day weekend. The whole family is going so what every happens at the races is gravy because there will be some good adventures for sure along the way. Jens already has the water bottle filled. He has been cranking out laps on the Maplelag kids Comp course with Jake and riding the new singletrack. We'll stack up the Citizen Youth with Jens, Jack and Jon racing in that class and Jon will probably race Citizen Super D like he did last year. Not staying at the haunted house this year but still should be fun.
