When I used to be more serious about training and did the periodization thing and had everything mapped out, I would plan the third week, which was usually a high volume week, with the full moon. I am sure there are other athletes that did this but I haven't ever read anything about it. Something about the full moon week. Big time weather usually happens somewhere in the world, animals adjust feeding and movement patterns, waves and tides etc. I am a big fan of the moon. Light at night is very cool. Grooming, skiing, biking, walking, skating etc. under a moonlight is an awesome. When Jonell and I lived in Norway, our apartment, that had this huge window, overlooked lake Mjosa in Hamar. When the full moon was blasting nicely, it would reflect off the lake and totally light up the room and almost impossible to sleep. I have a hard time sleeping when the full moon comes around. Winona LaDuke was out skiing yesterday and said the Ojibway December moon is Spirit moon and the Great Spirit moon is when there are two full moons in the month of December. Tomorrow is full moon and last day of the year. Can't ever recall a full moon on December 31st. Could check on internet I guess and find out but I didn't. All the funny things happening this week must because of that second moon. Today's little excitement was the bus for Eden Prairie ski team getting stuck in the middle of the parking lot. It was the same driver that brought the kids up (and was stuck but some ashes provided traction and she drove out, not before hitting some rocks and putting a dent and nice scratches in the front panel and door.) With pretty much every bus that rolls in having issue, I pretty much drop everything when a bus rolls in so I can help guide them around but today I was too late.

The driver didn't keep her momentum when turning around and the silky snow falling wasn't the best for traction so she slid into a subaru and luckily the subaru had a hitch to stiff arm the bus.

The warm tires melt the snow and absolutely no traction. I ran and got some hot coals to try and help things along but did not work. Just too much ice underneath. Burning rubber!!
The EP kids tried to push it back but didn't work.
So took the Pisten Bully cat groomer out and pulled but had hard time getting traction and tracks just spun. Was enough though to get just enough room so our plow guy could "coach" the driver and she got out.
Meanwhile the salt delivery guy comes in pretty hot weaving through pulks and skis before coming to a stop from a parked car blocking his way. Once everything was settled down and the team was ready to roll out, the driver comes in and says "see you Friday, I'm bringing up the Edina team". That's January 1st, right?
