Wow, beautiful Christmas snow storm. Only bummer was I missed out on Christmas Eve at Jonell's parents to keep up on the snow fall. TJ helping out with the grooming this year and doing a great job and cutting my time in half or doubling my time I guess. He has been doing all the skate trails each early morning and setting some tracks as well. When TJ said he is used to going on 3 hours of sleep and getting up early to work I said he was born to groom. Just drinks lots of water he said. The trails are in great shape with all 64k open which is a record after one big snow event basically starting from scratch. It has been a great Holiday week so far with a bunch of crazy goofy stuff happening that is all good because it keeps things interesting and entertaining. Maybe a post about some of that after New Years if time. Wasn't planing on another post but one thing today was too good to pass up.

After the groom this morning, TJ was telling me about a truck that was in Bullhead Bay. I didn't quite believe what he was saying so when things were caught up after breakfast, I took the Bearcat out on Little Sugarbush.

One of our neighbors was out having some fun last night and tried driving through Bullhead bay from Little Sugarbush to Bullhead lake to Big Sugarbush to Strawberry and eventually White Earth Lake. The chain of lakes the sledheads call it. I ran into the guys and his brother and friends and they were going to jack up the truck, and winch it out on the solid ice was the plan.

Couldn't believe he tried to pull it off. Reminded me of things in high school like getting stuck on purpose in the winter time so I could miss school but I wouldn't have the guts to do this. Bog is scary stuff. Never freezes down in the winter, even after -40 degree temps and the area lakes have some serious topwater which can cause some issue. If you have been to Maplelag for Laddies Loppet, after the lakeside singletrack the track comes back along the bay and you can see kamikaze through the woods.

Late afternoon I took a trip around skaters waltz on the skate boards and they managed to pull it out. Was hoping to get out there earlier to watch them as it would of been something else I am sure. They were carrying planks and walking back to the trucks as I skated by.

Never a dull moment at Maplelag.
