With open days soon disappearing, Jonell and I decided to drive down to Mexico for three days. Somehow we ended up in Duluth.
Cruise ship passing by in the morning.
Rode up to Lester park one afternoon to check out the trails for the MMBS race in August. I don't think I found the IMBAisque trail but some fun riding nonetheless. Didn't see any other bikers. Just lots of walkers with dogs. Tons of dogs. It was almost hot out and the sun baking the dog droppings was noticeable for sure.
Scenic place for a bike race for sure with rivers running by etc. I am sure the organizers will do a great job putting on a nice event.
Trademark ne wind pulling the cold off the Gitchi Gummi kicked in Tuesday afternoon. Dropping temp down nicely to 30's. Nice little getaway.
On the way home stopped at Paul Bunyan Forest for a quick ride. The trails are closed to motorized at the moment so the dirt bike trails were rough and raw. Perfect riding for the 26 hardtail.
Southern facing trails were in the best shape. Wind can blow stuff off, better exposure, more open. Hoping to get back there next few weeks for more exploring the endless miles of trail/db singletrack.
Jonell hiked on one of the forest roads while I was out riding, gathering and collecting.
Easy there Paul.
Rest of the week spent working on bike course and outside projects. The month of April has been unreal with the temps and what not. Course is in great shape. Fantastic riding with good, open sight lines and hard trail surface.
Took first swim of the year Thursday evening. Felt refreshing after warm and dusty day in the woods blowing out leaves etc. Water wasn't too bad, not the bone numbing chill like I remember sometimes. Bring yer speedos SW.
