Another fun weekend of summer hockey. This time up in Grand Forks.

Jon was playing with Moorhead based team again, Midwest Ice Hogs. The team won all five games to take the Championship in the 97 division and remain undefeated on the year at 9-0!! Thats Jens in the middle. The last two games he got to sit on the bench with the team and "help coach".

The toughest two games were on Saturday. Both were shootouts after tight contests ending in ties. Jon nailed both of his shots in the shootouts helping his team to the win. Playing with this team brings out a lot of passion and determination in Jon.
Jens shaking hands after playing the JR Sioux.
Stayed at Jonell's aunt and uncles place which was very nice instead of staying in a hotel. Thanks for the hospitality! First tournament I have stayed at the whole weekend and nice not to be pounding the road. A break now with the team until the end of June.

Canadian teams in the tourneys not doing so well which is a good sign the northern US players are holding their own. The Prairie Thunder team from Manitoba was pretty easy to tell they were from Canada. Flags and maple leafs all over, very much euro looking.
Rolling the flats on 81. Not much down time really until Sunday morning. Had the bike along to blow out the arena legs. Put a lot of miles on 81 back in the day. Just like climbing a mountain. Ride single digits out and gear out on the way back!

Rollerbladed with Jens and Jon after a nice ride earlier in the morning. Jack and Jake staying back home doing their thing.

Saturday morning ride cut short thanks to a flat. Wasn't going to go out very long so didn't have tube etc. along. First time on pavement and catch a flat!?!?! No way was I going to go in to a house and call Jonell for a ride so I went demo derby mode determined to ride on the rim if I had too, blowing out the tube.

Thanks to everyone making plans trying to come up for the short notice race. Rode a lap this morning and the trail is looking great. Some touch up trail maintenance this week and things should be real nice on Sunday.
